Sunny days, party nights, tanned skin and no school can only mean one thing…summer. Yamileth Manriquez a 17 year-old senior at South East High School is one of many disappointed teenagers that are now forced to say goodbye to summer 2009. However Manriquez’s summer job did limit her fun a lot more than what she would have wanted. Still in this hard economic times where finding a job is like finding a needle in a haystack, being employed is an excellent accomplishment. Having a summer job helps teenagers discover self sufficiency and independence. According to Manriquez the only reason she didn’t get to enjoy her job much was, “The frustrating customers that put me in stressful situations.” Nevertheless whenever she had some free time Manriquez enjoyed activities like watching movies and going to parties with friends. One thing she will really miss is sleeping as much as she desired without worrying about school or irritating alarm clocks. Summer this year was not much different to Manriquez from her past year, other than her age, even so when asked if there was any regrets she replied “No.”
